Over 90 years ago in 1930 Dominick Kelly opened a modest butcher’s shop on the main street of Newport, Co. Mayo. Over nearly a century it has flourished and expanded beyond the town, becoming a household name to lovers of black and white puddings and sausages nationwide. Today it encompasses a butcher’s shop with an extensive grocery and gift section, a thriving café next door and a state-of-the-art manufacturing and production area nearby. We have our own abattoir with an EU licence and are true artisan butchers dealing with every aspect of butchering.
The fourth generation of the Kelly family is now involved in the progressive family business which still occupies the original shop and retains Dominick Kelly’s name over the front door. Through the years, Seán and Seamus Kelly have taken the traditional family recipes to new heights, winning awards and acclaim at home and abroad.
While new and innovative products have been added to the range, the traditional (and very secret) recipes remain at the heart of the proud family business – Kelly’s Black and White Puddings, Kelly’s Putóg and Kelly’s Sausages. These well-loved products and more are available in Kelly’s Butchers Newport, in supermarkets, butchers shops and speciality food stores countrywide and through the online shop. All Kelly’s products are finished by hand and are made using high quality ingredients. We live up to our motto “We make up to a standard not down to a price”.
